Online college degree online or through college?
I'm confused about getting a degree through a university online, like Baker, or the University of Phoenix Online, or go through a real univerysity as the University of Illinois. What is the difference? I need a BS in Computer and my husband wants a degree in business administration. I need someone to help me clarify. ????
There are two major differences in general: 1) quality of education is the meaning of the accredited institution and 2) how employers perceive them. Some online universities are not accredited, and if you spend your time and money to complete a degree through them to find that not acceptable for businesses, do not think you would be very happy. Many of them claim falsely to be accredited, but they have to have regional accredidation that really matter. Moreover, to complete a degree through these schools are automatically announced completing the degree online while you do it through a traditional university does not indicate that you have completed the online degree (not shown in your record and the school name does not mean it). If you complete the degree through a traditional college that offers online degrees, you have a better chance of receiving a quality education and more often, these programs are accredited and is easier to check to make sure they are. Some but not all, employers not take into account levels of places like the University of Phoenix, Strayer, etc as "Real" degrees. That said, I do not have to justify its title to anyone. If you work hard for something, you want people to appreciate and accept that w / o any doubt. With that being said, go for the degree through the traditional university.
