Online schools and accreditation?

Two questions: I am enrolling in an online program to complete my high school diploma. I I'm not looking for a "diploma mill" but an accredited institution. 1. I can find no accreditation for the public (funded or operated by the state) online schools in my state, but I can never remember regular public schools to find accredited public schools do in fact spend by the accreditation process? Do I need to worry about it? 2. Some of the online private schools are accredited by the Higher Education Adviser, and Distance Learning Council and secondary schools and such. But some of them are part of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (southern states), for example, when I live in the Pacific Northwest. Do I need in my area of accreditation of State for that matter (especially because it is distance learning, online)?

Yes, public schools are subject to an accreditation process, but rather that you do not hear about because they are government-run schools accredited by the government itself. I heard on rare occasions, a public school loses its accreditation, maybe twice in my life. The Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (for example) is considered "real" accreditation. I do not know specifically about the others, or others who have not named, but there are organizations that you may pay certain money and "buy" accreditation, which "real" non-compliance. I think that while the school has "real" accreditation where its headquarters are located, that no matter if you do not have to live in that region. School is accreditation that matters, not where the student resides. If your online program awards a diploma, it must be good anywhere. Just a note: Louisiana is the only state I know of that does not accept credentials non-traditional! Louisiana is well on public school diploma or GED, or nothing!
